Sounds from the desert, wide landscape full of sand at the sunset, intolerable warm atmospheres, lysergic imagination nurturing air. Tuna de Tierra leaves for a trip with neither destination nor end, but just the purpose to move endlessly.
The band was born in Napoli (Italy) in the first months of the 2013 from the long-standing union between Alessio De Cicco (guitar and vocals) and Luciano Mirra (bass guitar) who, thanks to the collaboration of Jonathan Maurano (drums), take them to the totally self-producted first EP recording.
“EPisode I: Pilot”, released in the June of 2015, is the result of continuous musical research and, thanks to it, the band collects lots of approvals, including reviews from several international music zines and the insertion in remarkable compilations.
With the entrance of Marco Mancaniello behind the drums, at the end of 2015, the sound research of the band can finally keep on going.
During the 2016, the band takes part in some gigs and festivals, including the Sputnik Festival, the King of Stoned Fest opening for the north italian band Kayleth and the Pietrasonica Fest, treading the boards with bands such as Carnaval, Sunset in the 12th House and Blaak Heat.
In early 2017, the band went back in the studio for the recording sessions of the first full-lenght album entitled “Tuna de Tierra”, released on September 22 via Argonauta Records.
At the end of 2017, Mattia Santangelo (ex La Polvere di Bodélé) join the band as new drummer, replacing Mancaniello.
During the 2018 the band is involved in a promotional minitour which includes dates in Italy, France and Switzerland and which allows the band itself to share the stage with bands like High Reeper, Rancho Bizzarro, The Black Wizards and Red Sun.
July the 16th has been published, through Phonosphera Records, the split-LP “The Bad Tuna”, along with the band The Bad Light (Santa Cruz, CA), which includes the 3 tracks from “Episode I: Pilot”.
